Bottles as gifts

Post by jollygreengiant » 18 Sep 2007, 09:11

I am hoping to pick brains here!, so.....I am in the process of making a large quantity of damson gin at the moment, with the intention of giving some of it away as Christmas presents. Other than using bottles that I have collected myself, does anyone have a source of smallish bottles - perhaps in a decorative style - that they could tell me about. I'd be grateful for any assistance.

Thanks
JGG

Not sure what size you are after but I was thinking of using white wine vinegar bottles from Tesco. They are 350 ml and cost 50p. I've been doing a bit of chutney making using the vinegar so will save the bottles for the sloe gin. There are also some really nice bottles on Lakeland website, just but sloe gin in the search box.

This is the sloe bottle Tiff is referring to.

They're a bit expensive in my opinion (Just for bottles.) But very pretty :D

EDIT - for some reason the full hyperlink is not highlighting. Doesn't seem to like the exclamation mark in the middle, but that is part of the whole link, so either cut and paste the entire link or search the link that does come up.

I have also mentioned details of another bottle type in the Sloe Gin Recipies pages, if anyone is interested.

P.S they are cheaper than Lakeland aswell!!

Mineral water bottles. From the pub. Free. Just ask them to save you some (with the tops).

Try www.colouredbottles.co.uk [/b]They sell from 50ml to gallons to private and commercial buyers and will screenprint messages on bottles for about 10p each. I have just bottled 8L sloe gin to use as wedding favours/placenames and these guys provided great advice and assistance. Give 'em a ring!
