I have used this recipe for damson gin or vodka and it seems to work fine
1 lb. sugar
1.6 pts gin/vodka
1 lb. damsons, pitted
Mix all ingredients.
Place in jug or decanter.
Three months from date, its ripe!

A suprising number of people ask about damson gin on the slow.biz site ... and I usually try to cover my ignorance!
However, in time, a number of variations are likely to be added to the site for eveyone's benefit, and I'll be happy to add your beautifully simple recipe to the forum.
I have no hesitation in completely discarding sloes after removing from bottle, but what about the flesh of the damsons? I imagine it would be good on ice cream - or even the morning cornflakes?
