I was wondering if other people are finding the Sloes a bit scarce this year? :(

They are not abundent in Kent - 2011 was an amazing year, last year there was a dearth, it was really hard to find any at all. This year there are some, but not thousands.

I have found lots at my usual spot in Norfolk, although some bushes which were full last year were not as full and the others which were sparse last year are heavily laden.

London is heaving with sloes. I was down in Kent (Nr Deal) over the weekend and also saw lots. I think it's going to be a great year. :?

My normal patches locally have virtually nothing - I'll try further afield next month but I'm not hopeful.....

I have not been out yet but will be doing so soon. Everything seems very late this year, which is working to my advantage as I haven't had time to go picking. I hope the brambles last until I can get out there, they are about ready now.

I'm in Essex and there are plenty both in Harold Wood and at Billericay Cricket Club, but they are higher up than in previous years. You need to be tall or take some steps to reach them!

I take an old walking stick, and hook them down.

The crop in my area is "OK", but not great. Compared to last year, it's been heaven!

Plenty in Frankfurt - picked 5 lbs in about half an hour this morning, having done the same on Monday.

Tons still on the bushes at my secret Sloe spot too....

Just been out searching at our usual spot near Warrington and very slim pickings this year.

Not sure whether the unusually good summer has had a negative effect?

Managed to bag enough for one bottle but will have to venture further afield next weekend in search of a few more..

Just been out picking today in Gloucestershire - quite a few berries about (far more than last year) but they do all seem to be on the small size.

I'm in Essex, (near Rayleigh) and the sloes appear fine around here, quite large and plump looking. :)

Just been out looking again today around Warrington / Northwich area and have come up completely blank.

I appreciate good sloe spots are probably closely guarded secrets for some, but if anyone knows of any bushes that are still bearing fruit near Warrington I would be very grateful of a PM.. I'm getting worried I might have missed the season entirely up here!
