I am very interested in the idea of having my own blackthorn and damson trees in my garden, space dictates one of each. I am wondering if anyone can tell me how to take a cutting from a tree, get it to root and any tips on planting. There are a few blackthorn trees in my area and I was fortunate enough to find what I believe to be a wild damson tree. Is it relatively easy to take cuttings from these to transplant or would I be better to find a garden center that sells established saplings? Also, does anyone know how long I would have to wait before they bear fruit?
