the juicer leaves them whole, but the food processer breaks them up. i have never had an undesirable taste from the kernels. but you would get a slight taste from any fruit, if left too long. in my mind, any longer then six months is just foolish and has no benefit. to me, decanting is all part of the fun, and if you have a lot to syphon, it can have quite an effect on you. mmmmmmm

Returning to a very old thread with extra information; I remembered to look at the clock this time.

I just pricked the sloes for 2 demijohn batches of gin (2.5L of gin per demijohn)

2900 g of sloes, pricked in 45 minutes.
