Hi Elizabeth,

Glad the family enjoyed the Mars Bar Vodka.

I have friends who now expect a bottle evertime I see them... ...and it's got to the point where one person insists on Galaxy Vodka, as Cadbury's Dairy Milk Vodka is not her thing... :? Some people are spoilt if you ask me...

Fishermans Friends Vodka

Post by blewy » 31 Dec 2006, 10:44

I got this recipe from a friend who had a pub in Denmark where it was very popular. He now sells it in his pub over here. Just put a bag of Fisherman’s Friends into a standard bottle of vodka and shake. You do not need sugar or to crush the tablets they just dissolve away leaving a very warming drink.

Fisherman’s Friends vodka sounds fantastic!

Can also report recent successes with pear drops, After Eights and Werthers Originals. The possibilities seem to be endless.

Happy New Year, all!

A variation on the themes here. Have tried this with Mars bars and Caramac.....

To 2/3rds vodka, add the choc to fill the remaining space
Replace cap
Place bottle on top shelf in dishwasher, and run on a 70 degree program
When program finished, shake bottle well and leave to cool.

Dime bar vodka- I took 4 bars, ate about half of one of them, crushed the rest up quite finely. I put the dime bits in a small bowl with a couple of tablespoons of vodka then sat the bowl over a pan of barely simmering water, stiring occasionally until it all melted. Cool slightly, pour into a bottle, fill with vodka and shake.
I guess I normally use a 500ml or so bottle.

Just joined this site and can't wait to try your variations on vodka just off to get my Mars bars! How long does it keep for? Or should I hide it round the house? to stop me drinking it all! lol

Elizabeth and friends are getting slightly off track here. I've made sloe vodka using a tried and tested sloe gin recipe, just substitute vodka for the gin. The flavour is gorgeous, a bit smoother than sloe gin and has been described by friends who do not touch anything with gin in it as 'Christmassy. :D
All the Best, from the Flanman
