My opinion on the subject is this. As long as the sloes are ripe just simply wash them and then prick them several times. If you wait untill first frosts i would do exactly the same why try to falsify nature. I personally do not believe in freezing sloes and i dont think there is any benefits at all...

Hi there.
just to let you know our local butcher has got loads of frozen damsons.
Bought some the other day for damson brandy and they are fine.
He is charging just 1.20 for a kilo.

Hi there.
not 100 per cent but here's what i would do.
Follow the simple recipe on the forum as i can't see much damage could be done as they are vaccum packed.
Good luck and let us know how you go on.

Are your supplies running out

Been out picking again and sadly noticed that not many sloes left on the lower parts, and also a lot of shrivelled ones. I feel that if you dont pick in the next week or so you may miss out. Bullace still plentifull so always got something to fall back on.

Been told that they are a sloe damson hybrid and i can tell you that they are within 20 yards of sloes and damsons where i do my m...

Hi Elizabeth. Regarding sugar types i do my sloe gin with white and brown sugar. However i have just found a recipe in a book from 1974 and it uses pounded sugar candy any idea where you can get this from.
