Shortly after setting up the Forum, I asked the Editor of the Gloucestershire Echo to run a piece on sloe gin - stressing the need to pick later, rather than too early. I was concerned that 'my' sloes in the Cotswolds, and along the River Severn between Tewkesbury and Gloucester would be picked too early - leaving none for more experienced and patient pickers.

The Echo photographer, Cher Permaul, took an instant liking to sloe gin, but still turned out some good photos with her Nikon digital kit in the light rain when we found a suitable bush.

During the photography I 'forgot' to mention that I too was a photographer (mostly PR). This lead to great suprise and confusion for her a month later when she saw me enter her office with a staff swipe-card, and a bag of cameras over my shoulder!
